All About Gaming

Work Package 4

We took the learning from Work Package 1 and 2 and worked with young people to develop a serious mobile game.

We found that gaming is one way that can help young people affected by ACEs to have the space and privacy to think about what is going on for them.

We are interested to see if the game can help young people feel more ready to seek other forms of support if they need it.

Ace of Hearts

Ace of Hearts is a serious mobile game that ATTUNE co-designed with young people and produced by the game development team based at the University of Falmouth.

The game consists of four minigames:

1) Horse and Foal - a 2D storytelling game about bereavement and parental responsibility being placed on a young person

2) Hard Times - a 3D first person game about a family struggling with finances

3) Dial It Back - a 2D game inspired by Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) about a young person living with a disability

4) Out of Shell - a 2D tower defence style game about a young person experiencing gender dysphoria

The game opens into a central room, called the Cosy Den, where players can customise and interact with their own in game bedroom.
